Román Hermida received a Ph.D. degree in 1994 from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Architecture and Systems Engineering. He is a senior member of the IEEE. His research interests include design automation, computer architecture, reconfigurable computing, and embedded systems. Dr. Hermida has been actively involved in program committees of several international conferences, and served as the Program Chair of the International Symposium on System Synthesis in 2000, and General Chair of the same conference in 2001. He received the 2002 IEEE VLSI Transactions best paper award. He has also served as Track Chair for CODES+ISSS and DATE. He was the Program Co-chair of the Spanish Conference on Informatics (CEDI 2013), and since 2014, he is serving as the scientific manager for the area of Informatics at the Spanish R&D Agency. Within the Complutense University, he served as Vice-Chancellor for New Technologies (2001-2003), Dean of the School of Computer Science (2006-2010), and as a member of several advisory and government boards. In 2011, he was a visiting professor at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Francisco Tirado
Francisco Tirado born in Madrid (Spain) in 1951. He received the Applied Physics degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) in 1973, and the PhD in Physics from UCM in 1977. He has hold several positions within the Department of Computer Science and System Engineering of the UCM. Since 1986 Professor of Computer Architecture and Technology.
He has worked on different facets of Computer Architecture, Parallel Processing and Design Automation. His current research areas are parallel algorithms and architectures, and processor design. Professor Tirado has coauthored over 300 publications. He has served in the organization of more than 100 International Conferences as General Chair, Steering Committee member, Program Chair, Program Committee member, Invited Speaker, and Session Chair. He is a Senior member of IEEE, member of ACM, and of several European institutions and committees.
Prof. Tirado has been the Dean of the Physics School of UCM (1994-2002). He is member of the Informatics Advisory Board of the UCM, and, recently, Head of the Department of Computer Science and System Engineering. During five years (1988-1992) he has been serving as General Manager of the Spanish National Programme for Robotics and Advanced Automation. He is advisor of the National Agency for Research and Development (CICYT). Professor Tirado served the research evaluation committee in Spain during 3 years and chaired it in 2001-2002. He has been advisor of Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology
He has been the Director of the CSC (Center for SuperComputation) and Scientific Director of the Scientific Park of Madrid. He is also head of Computer Science area at National Agency of Research Evaluation.
He has received the Doctorate “Honoris Causa” by Universidad de San Agustin (Peru) 2008, Universidad National de Asunción (Paraguay) 2010,Universidad de Almería (Spain) 2017, and Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina) 2019. Jose Garcia Santemases Award 2013 ( Nacional Award in computer Science). In 2019 he received the Latin American Merit Award in Computer Science. Currently he is Honorary Chairman of the Scientific Computer Society of Spain (SCIE), Spanish Association on Computer Architecture (SARTECO), member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Scientific Societies of Spain (COSCE), and since 2018 he is a member of the European Academy Computer Section
